This cake was made entirely for that person.
Handcrafted in our Malvern studio, this two-tier succulent cake is covered in hand-piped buttercream succulents, cacti and desert rosettes – each one built petal by petal using rich, smooth buttercream in earthy greens, soft sage, dusty pinks and natural desert tones. The design can be styled as a minimalist cluster for a clean modern look, a full succulent garden cascading down the tiers for something more dramatic, or anything in between. Every arrangement is customised to your colour palette and style preference, and the whole cake is baked fresh from scratch using premium ingredients. It is the kind of cake that feels as natural and beautiful as the plants that inspired it.

At Runaway Cupcakes, we have been creating custom cakes in Melbourne since 2015, and our bakers are Royal Melbourne Show Blue Ribbon winners. Hand-piping buttercream succulents petal by petal is one of the most meditative and skilled decorating techniques we work with – the colour blending, the layering, the arrangement – and the result is something that genuinely looks like a living garden sitting on top of a cake.
